This PickWise customer originally recorded their labour using a manual ‘punch card’ system. After trialing PickWise for a short while they adopted the system full time and have been using it successfully for a number of seasons. They track hourly and piecework to know their picking costs per kg for each crop and class of fruit.

Packing Operation:
Recognising that many of the issues running a complex and ever-changing packing workforce were similar to those encountered with temporary harvest, this customer has adapted PickWise to their needs. All workers are scanned from barcode badges and the reports used to show performance at individual worker and line team levels. Pay is then recorded and reported through the working day.
“Average packing performance has risen by 15% with poor performers retrained or redeployed to other tasks. The Initial one year return on investment plan has been delivered in 6 months and the system is being introduced to another two packing units in 2007.”
